Locally made 24x14" tall. Bottom air vents.
Did you know; one brown bat can eat over 1,000 mosquito-sized insects in one night! Our bat houses are locally made using un treated wood.
One major reason for the decline of bats is the loss of habitat. One option to counteract this problem is install a bat house.
Unfortunately many of the inexpensive bat houses you find in stores are too small or designed poorly. They are just for decor.
- Bats need warm so ensure your bat house faces South or East so that it receives as much sunlight as possible (ideally, 8 to 10 hours of sunlight a day).
- Install your bat house 3 metres or more from the ground on a pole or the side of a house. Bat houses on trees are more difficult for bats to find and are easer for predetors to get into.
- Clean your bat house in the late fall. (wear a mask and gloves) Remove spiders, wasps.
- Always look for bat houses at least 24"tall x 14" wide in size. Air slits at the bottom not the top to prevent heat loss.
